From my needles to yours, a letter from the founder.
Welcome. I’m so glad you’re here!
At Key Knits, I believe in the quiet magic of handmade things—the kind of magic that comes from steady hands, soft wool, and the stories we stitch into every piece.
I started Key Knits as a way to share thoughtful patterns inspired by the rhythm of nature, the seasons, and memory. Whether it’s a breezy summer tank, a cozy winter sweater, or socks that carry the scent of salt air and home, each design is meant to feel good on your body and in your hands. Joyful to knit. Comforting to wear.
As a Canadian woman and designer, my work is deeply rooted in the land that raised me—maple forests, ocean air, and long, quiet winters. The name Key Knits is inspired by humble maple seeds—known by many as maple keys, helicopters, or samaras. As a child, I watched them twirl in the wind like nature's confetti. Now, my patterns are often shaped by nature, by my travels, my yoga practice, and my love of storytelling. I aim for softness and strength in equal measure. You’ll find poetic textures, soothing stitches, and maybe a little whimsy woven in too.
But Key Knits is more than a pattern shop. It’s a community. A place for knitters who make to feel, to grow, to heal, and to connect. A place where you’re invited to bring your own story to the stitches.
Thank you for being here—for supporting independent design, for choosing slow fashion, and for being part of this flock. Whether you’re casting on for the first time or adding to a long line of heirlooms, I hope you find something here that feels like it was created just for you.
With wool and warmth,
Rhonda
